The Blue Economy Cluster Builder project is excited to lead a strategic workshop on the Blue Economy sector in Indonesia and how Scottish organisations can participate and collaborate in this current and upcoming area.
A maritime country with over 17,500 islands, 108,000 km of coastline, and three-quarters of its territory at sea, Indonesia is an exciting region of growing economic activities with tremendous Blue Economy potentials in areas relevant to offshore renewable energy, clean maritime development, marine based biotechnology, sustainable maritime operations, fisheries, aquaculture, and sustainable tourism. However, these potentials have yet to be fully optimised, and there are still some challenges to achieving the country’s Blue Economy aspirations.
In this 180-minute workshop, there will be an interactive introductory session to the Blue Economy opportunities in Indonesia facilitated by Aquatera Ltd.
A Scotland – Indonesia Blue Economy case study discussion will be presented and three guest speakers will open a participatory discussion session on the possible opportunities for Blue Economy collaborations between Scotland and Indonesia. The discussion and shared insights will include topics such as renewable energy in the marine environment, biodiversity, aquaculture, and coastal community development, as well as sustainable resources management in islands ecosystems.
